However, he enters the pantheon of Latin writers with one small book in his hand. It is an alphabetical collection of sentences known as Publilii Sententiae. “Publilius Syrus, moral maxims – sententiae” is a translation of these sentences. This translation is accompanied by an introduction presenting the life of Publilius Syrus and his literary achievements. An analysis of sentences regarding such moral questions as avarice and benevolence was also carried out.
